Why do you like working at Austin Achieve community?
My favorite thing about Austin Achieve is the culture. We are passionate teachers who work from the heart to carry out the mission of the school, finding efficient ways to pave a path for scholars to get to college. In addition, I love working in a place where we care about social and emotional development as well as academics. There is a real commitment not only to the scholars but also to their families and to the community. Seeing that parents can access assistance, and earn educational certifications makes Austin Achieve really special.
What makes your work at Austin Achieve sustainable?
My work is sustainable because I have a commitment to the community and a passion to educate our scholars. I receive continuous support from the principals, my manager/coach, and my colleagues, which makes the hard work more manageable. Being a teacher is not an easy job, it requires a lot of passion and commitment. I enjoy working in a place where I feel challenged and encouraged to push myself every day to become a better version of myself.
What does Austin Achieve do to help with sustainability?
One Friday a month we are dismissed early. We can do things like schedule health-related appointments, do something fun with peers and family, or go rest. I also really like that we have access to a 1-mile trail around the school, which I can walk during my breaks. On occasions, I also like to take the scholars to the trail, so they can connect with nature and we can have the class in a different environment- they love it! Lastly, I cannot fail to mention the hard work of our leaders who sometimes surprise us with refreshments, coffee, and/or snacks that make our day better. Our leaders are always looking for ways to support and make our work more efficient. These things make me feel sustained, connected, and proud to be a part of Austin Achieve.

At Austin Achieve, we serve a population of scholars where 93% qualify for free or reduced lunch. Free or reduced lunch is determined by a family's proximity to the poverty line. We also serve a majority of first generation college scholars.

EMPHASIS ON EXTRACURRICULARS
We are home to 45 clubs and after-school activities including beekeeping, soccer, and yoga.
About 95 Austin Achieve staff members have their children enrolled at Austin Achieve Public Schools.
